Functionality is a characteristic of Vietnamese traditional music, each type of song is backed by a social function. Continuing this tradition, Hoang Van has created new musical genres: job's songs, provinces songs, lullabies and modern rhymes ... Many of his songs have become the official song of a profession or of a province. In addition, his songs go beyond functionality to become real art works.
